Chat with an Author Episode 2

Faulty Fallon

Meet Fallon. Fallon Jax has struggled in the love department for as long as she could remember. The one man whom is supposed to be a girls first true love, her father Fonzo Jax has always been more concerned with what the streets were offering as opposed to what his only daughter needed. Fallon decided that she would find her own love in those same streets. The only problem with that is that she's seen as prey and she is set to become a part of someone else's game. Will Fallon prevail or will her downfall be her own FAULT?

I am pleased you have joined She Reads Fire Chat with an Author, a discussion about books, what-ifs, and what's next? The raw, uncut version

A. Monique is a second-guess author. She is a new author and currently has one book out entitled Faulty Fallon, which is available on Amazon as well as Kindle Unlimited. And readers you can now borrow up to 20 books on Kindle Unlimited/ Honey Christmas came early. If you have not done so already go get your 20 books and put Faulty Fallon in that kindle you got and read honey. Thank you for joining us, A. Monique! Let me start by asking you to introduce yourself to the readers. Would you mind telling them a little about yourself?

Well, my pen name is A. Monique, which is short for Angela Monique. I am a ball of good vibes and energy, and I love to laugh. I am super family-oriented and as loyal as they come. If you see me out somewhere do not hesitate to yell my name or come give me a hug. I am LIT! Lol. Can you please tell the readers about your novel?

Faulty Fallon is about a typical, young girl who wants to live life and love hard. She doesn’t realize it in the beginning, but she wants love, friendship, a loving family, and also some playtime every now and then. Things happened in her life that caused her to make some terrible decisions, but in the end, she figured it out. You wrote Faulty Fallon your first novel. You penned the novel as if you had been on the creative writing journey for a couple of years. Is this truly your first novel?

Because honey I am impressed with how well written this book is. Congratulations sis because it’s a banger on my list! First of all, thank you for that beautiful compliment! This is truly my first novel though lol. I promise. I wrote poems and short stories when I was younger, but that’s it. Shoutout to Ms. Simone Martin from Block Jr. High for welcoming me into the world of creative writing! I also had the best feedback from The Hopeful Heartbreakers, my editing team. They were amazing at helping me execute my vision, without altering my voice. How long did it take you to write this book?

Chile look, I started Faulty Fallon around November 2020. I have three daughters, and a Husband so with holidays, birthdays, etc, I was all over the place. I finally forced myself to sit still and complete it in April 2021. So, I’d say roughly five months. The characters in this novel were lit throughout the entire read. Could you describe the Protagonist and Antagonist to the readers?

Here is where it gets tricky. The politically correct answer would be Fallon was the Protagonist and Torrance and Jay were the Antagonists, right? Nope. Don’t get me wrong Torrance and Jay wanted Fallon and Kiyan to be hurt, but in my eyes, there were two possible Antagonists in this story. One being Kiyan. He messed up once, but he always wanted the best for Fallon. His main goal was to right his wrongs and love his woman. Fallon ended up being her own worst enemy. She was both the Antagonist and the Protagonist. Your novel centers around Fallon overall. She is feisty, outspoken, sneaky, and going through some things where I feel women can understand her to a certain degree. Because sis had me screaming and cruising her out. Fallon stressed me out a little bit. When you wrote Fallon’s story how did you think readers would relate to her?

Is Fallon Jax not every girl once upon a time? She is. We all were there once and I wanted readers to tap into that part of themselves to gain an understanding of Fallon. In the novel, Fallon is making a lot of bad choices. I was getting so mad at her with a lot of her actions because a lot of things could have been avoided. Are you a believer in the saying two wrongs make a right?

I used to be many moons ago. You hurt me, I hurt you. Period. Whew, it took a lot of growth to get me out of that mindset, chile. Lol. Do you think if Fallon had a better relationship with her dad that she would have been more careful in the decisions she made in the novel?

Absolutely! If Fonzo would’ve been more emotionally present in her early years; she would’ve never gone down the path she chose, starting with Dominik. What is your favorite part of the novel?

Well, *clears throat* The funniest part in the book to me was when Fallon said, “I was on the block shooting dice with my homegirls, my phone is about to die, and I didn’t have a charger!” Lol. I love a good ole toxic quote lol. My actual favorite part of the novel was Fonzo and Fallon’s conversation in her bedroom. Different scenes in the book led to that one intimate Father and Daughter moment. Will we be reading any more about Fallon in the future?

Can we expect to read about her notorious family, her Dad Fonzo, and brothers? I have been playing around with that idea. I kind of have an urge to tell Fonzo’s story starting from when he made it to the Midwest. What is your top goal as an author?

My top goal is to write stories that are relatable to everyone. I want to leave my mark on your mind so that you’re thinking about my characters even in your sleep. I want readers to be so eager for my work that they’re reaching out to me like, “um yeah, when is the next one coming!” I want to pen novels that people still recommend in 10 years. Are you working on anything at the present you would like to share with your readers?

Yes, I am. As I stated before, I have been playing with Fonzo’s story. I can’t help it, he’s my boo. Lol. I am also working on something with new characters. You already know if A. Monique wrote it, there is some type of drama coming. Just get ready.

In addition to everything else you want to add, you can also tell us why people should read your novel: I want to thank everyone who has been on this journey with me. You all are so dope and I appreciate every single one of you! For my readers, new, old, and on the fence, just know that with every word I type I am giving you all everything I have. I am just getting started and I have so much more in store! Order your copies of Faulty Fallon today on Amazon! You will not be disappointed.
