My First Glimpse Into Naima Simone It Hit Different

ree

When I picked up Church Girl, I had no idea what to expect. I knew the trope: preacher’s daughter, bad boy tattoo artist, the classic show-me-you’re-worth-it arc. But what Naima Simone delivered was so much more.

Reading this was an emotional rush: faith, expectations, rebellion, love, and healing all tangled together. Aaliyah isn’t just running from a wedding she’s running from a life scripted for her. And Von? He’s bristling with pain, mistrust, and the black ink that covers more than just his arms.

Watching these two try to become equally yoked learning how to carry each other, not drag each other was powerful. Watching Aaliyah become bold, finding her voice in a world that tried to silence her? Chef’s kiss.

I also loved the setup: nanny + tattoo artist + single dad = high tension, because entwined with the romance is the pressure of family, choices, and identity. This isn’t a one-dimensional “girl meets bad boy” story it’s textured and human.

If I could sit down with Naima Simone, here are three juicy questions I’d ask her:

🍑 Juicy Reads Interview Questions

  1. If Von walked into your tattoo shop right now all ink, attitude, and daddy vibes what’s the first thing you’d want him to tattoo on you, and why?

  2. Aaliyah ditched her wedding and family’s expectations. Be honest what’s the wildest or most rebellious thing you ever did for love (or lust)?

  3. There’s a fine line between holy and hell-yes what scene in Church Girl had you blushing while you wrote it, like “Lord, forgive me, but readers gonna eat this up”?

  4. If you had to cast Church Girl as a Netflix or Prime movie, who’s your dream Von and Aaliyah and who’s playing that sassy little daughter stealing every scene?

  5. Church girls and bad boys are a juicy combo but tell us, what’s your personal guilty-pleasure romance trope that makes you one-click every time?

Thank you SO MUCH for this wonderful review! This made mah whole day! 🥰 And the aesthetics? Ma’am. THOSE are chef’s kiss! So the answers to your questions are:

1. Okay, I love this. 😂 Well since I have a tattoo and LOTR addiction, I would get “I am no man” tatted riiiight under my belly button. Maybe a little lower… I know. Subtle. LOL!!

  1. The wildest thing I ever did for love was throw a spelling bee. 🤣 The sister of my crush and I were the last two standing, going head to head. The word was flower. Now she’d already missed her word, so all I had to do was nail mine, and I’d win. But I…
